And so is this:
Or at least they both have about the same IQ!
Yesterday we decided to start leaving the gate between the dog's area and the rest of the backyard open. It used to be an open area, but then the construction behind us started and that meant that the moles & gophers moved in search of quieter territory. Under my back yard was one of the places they moved to. The dogs did what dogs do, which was to dig up every mole trail they could find. And they found plenty! Sometimes they would actually get the moles or gophers, not that often but they would usually present me with a dead mole or gopher. They were very proud of themselves! We got tired of the back yard looking like a moonscape, so we fenced off a small area and put a gate on it. That became the dog's yard. Now that the construction is done behind us, we've been letting the dogs have more access to the back and we decided to try leaving the gate open and see how they do. (This is where Maggie shows her smarts. Or lack thereof!)
I blocked their gate open and Frasier immediately figured it out. But then he's smarter than most people, so it was really not a surprise that he got it so fast. Maggie Moo? I took her outside through the back yard. When she was ready to come back in, she parked herself by the back door and eventually I let her back in that way. Then I walked her through the garage (she went through the dog doors), through their yard and through the gate out into the wide open back yard. I walked her back in through all that and then back out again. When she got ready to come in, what did she do? She came back to the back door and pawed the door! More than once.
Rocks in the head, for sure. Cute but still not smart. :)

She makes up in cuteness what she lacks in smarts. Froggy
She's pretty cute.
