Ragweed Should Be Illegal!

It should all be destroyed. And I have a bunch of it to deal with in the field behind the house. The builder hasn't done anything at all back there in months, and I've noticed that the activity has slowed way down where he was already starting. I hope that means that we won't have to deal with houses behind us for a long time - if ever. But I'm not holding my breath. What I am doing is finding stray ragweed that is sprouting up in the back yard, probably courtesy of the plants in the field! I just keep pulling it and throwing it away, then I usually have to run wash my hands off because my skin is reacting. The other morning, Frasier came bouncing in to wake me up and after I petted him I noticed that my hand was tingling. At first, I thought I'd just slept on my hand and it was asleep but then I got in the shower and the tingling washed off. So I think he must have been playing in a ragweed spot in the back yard. Thanks a lot, Frasier!

I got this in an email. I'd like to share it:

WHAT LOVE MEANS TO AGE 4 TO 8 YEAR OLD CHILDREN
Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it.Touching words from the mouth of babes. What does Love mean? A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, "What does love mean?"The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think:
"When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and painther toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love."Rebecca- age 8
"When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different. You just know that your name is safe in their mouth."Billy - age 4
"Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologneand they go out and smell each other." Karl - age 5
"Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your Frenchfries without making them give you any of theirs."Chrissy - age 6
"Love is what makes you smile when you're tired."Terri - age 4
"Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK."Danny - age 7
"Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired ofkissing, you still want to be together and you talk more. My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss"Emily - age 8
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen."Bobby - age 7 (Wow!)
"If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,"Nikka - age 6 (we need a few million more Nikka's on this planet)
"Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday."Noelle - age 7
"Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.
"Tommy - age 6"During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I lookedat all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling. He was the only one doing that. I wasn't scared anymore.
"Cindy - age 8"My mommy loves me more than anybody You don't see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.
"Clare - age 6"Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken."Elaine-age 5
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford"Chris - age 7
"Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him aloneall day"Mary Ann - age 4
"I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her oldclothes and has to go out and buy new ones."Lauren - age 4
"When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and littlestars come out of you." (what an image)Karen - age 7
"Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn't thinkit's gross."Mark - age 6

"You really shouldn't say 'I love you' unless you mean it. But if youmean it, you should say it a lot. People forget."Jessica - age 8
And the final one -- Author and lecturer Leo Buscaglia once talkedabout a contest he was asked to judge. The purpose of the contest was to find the most caring child. The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife. Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman's yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there. When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,"Nothing, I just helped him cry"
When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need.

And I have one to add to it: Love is my 90 year old boss and his precious 90 year old wife still holding hands when they go out to lunch together and giggling like a pair of teenagers. If they have managed to keep the romance alive and well for as long as they have been married (close to 70 years now), then there is hope for all.

Have to correct the mistakes in the first comment. It is supposed to say wear gloves when you are pulling the ragweed.

Froggy, I wondered why you said ear gloves!

lol I thought ear gloves was a new way to say ear muffs. That could catch on you know! If we start now, I bet Froggy will be famous by 2009 for "inventing" ear gloves.

The "what is love" quotes were so sweet. It is past my bedtime, I have been fighting sleep like a little kid because I hate working all day just to come home to a messy apartment and go to sleep. Now that I read that I am defintely ready to go cuddle up with Erik-who is already sleeping.

P.S. For the record, Erik did do the dishes, cleaned up the cat's room, picked some of his books up to take to the free flowing room, and went through a box of records I asked to, to figure out which ones to keep and which ones to give away. So the apartment isn't a complete disaster, the rest I will do tomorrow after I get done with the route and then sleeping in on Saturday.

P.S.S. I am going to try to get to the thrift stores tomorrow to take pictures for the blog before I post about it, thats why its not up yet.

Have a good night and weekend.

Trina, Froggy is my sister. She is a teacher. And she can't spell! We don't let her live that one down. Of course, she will deny that but it's true!

I can't spell either, that is why the dictionary is my second best friend. I was talking to Erik, and I think I figured out how to make ear gloves :) If it turns out that it works I will email you letting you know, so we can figure out a way for me to get them to you to give to Froggy. lol

I finally posted about the thrift stores, but still no pictures.
