What a Week and it's Still Not Friday1!!

It's been a crazy week.  Mostly, my time has been taken up with Otter and helping her get her cosplay ready for TNT this weekend.  She tried very hard not to be stuck at the last minute putting things together, but she was sick with allergies yesterday and has also had a lot more hours at work the last couple of weeks.  She finished up the sewing on both skirts a few days ago, but the white outer skirt had a lot of felt pieces that needed to be made and then glued on.

The blouse was another story altogether.  The pattern was for a peasant-style blouse that had a band around the front which tied in the back.  Otter didn't want the tie and she wanted the front piece to be one piece, not three different pieces sewed together.  So, we took the back pattern piece and altered it slightly.  Then we held our breath and crossed our fingers that it worked!  It did, but she still had a few alterations to make to the neckline and the sleeves.  The sleeves are short and have elastic at the ends.  She got the blouse front and back sewn together, got the neckline adjusted and hemmed and then all she had was the two sleeves to be sewn on and the bottom hem to be done.  That's when the sewing machine broke.  We thought maybe the needle was chipped or bent, but replacing the needle didn't help.  Bill looked at it, it's his machine, and he things it needs to be serviced and a good cleaning would help.  Since all she had left to actually sew on was the sleeves, I got out needle and thread and put them on by hand.  She's already done the casing for the elastic and inserted it into the casing on both sleeves.  But it was nearly 10:00 last night by the time we realized the sewing machine was not going to work.  I got finished sewing the sleeves on at 11:30 last night.  Can we say tired?

Otter had one felt piece which had to be glued to the front neckline of the blouse, she got that done this morning and then it sat on the table all day drying.  It was fine when we got home, and she got it packed with the rest of her luggage.  Looked like she was going away for weeks!  She'll be back on Sunday, the pile of luggage/suitcase/boxes/ice chest/tote bags was immense.

It rained today.  Of course it did, the rain barrel level was about 1/4 down, every time we think we might get to level it and stabilize it, it rains!  Lots.  Like nearly 2" in just a few hours.  Well, we do need it.

But I can do without the humidity that will happen!
