I talked to Virginia tonight. It's bad. M. D. Anderson dropped the ball, they lost Sara's file and instead of admitting it they kept saying that the doctor hadn't ever referred her. The doctor sent stuff to them more than once. But it's been so long now and the cancer is so advanced that they probably couldn't do anything for Sara, and Sara has decided that it's time to stop fighting. She has basically been sent home to die. Virginia is still hoping for a couple of months, but I really think that it's just a matter of days.
Hospice has been arranged and they have helped a lot, they had a special bed delivered as well as a shower chair and other equipment for Sara's comfort. Her medication has been changed and that has helped with her pain, but Sara has not been able to keep anything on her stomach for a couple of days and she's lost a lot of weight. Hospice is coming back tomorrow, Virginia is going to talk to them about that. Hospice has also arranged daycare for the kids when they need it, apparently they also have it under the services they offer the family.
Sara and Jesse were married by a justice of the peace when they got married, but they are Catholic and are going to be married by the church on Saturday. They newest baby will also be baptised at the same time. Their priest has made arrangements so that they don't have to go through the normal process, classes, etc., and can have the marriage ceremony done without delay.
As happy as they are about the wedding and baptism, it still doesn't change the fact that my best friend is about to lose her child.

I am keeping them in my prayers.
You know they're in my prayers.
